  • IMPORTANT NOTE

  • These tips are essential for exploring Chios from Cesme - the island offers a unique blend of medieval architecture, mastic culture, and volcanic beaches unlike anywhere else in Greece.

When planning how to get to Chios, the ferry to Chios from Cesme is your convenient gateway, with the 20-30-minute crossing making it easily accessible. Check Cesme Chios ferry departures carefully (for example, 09:00 from Cesme and 18:00 from Chios on the summer timetable) and book your Cesme Chios ferry tickets in advance during high season.

The island's size (842 km²) and scattered attractions make car rental advisable for exploring the many places to visit in Chios. The mastic villages of the south are absolutely unique - nowhere else in the world produces this "white gold."

Don't miss the extraordinary geometric patterns of Pyrgi or the medieval atmosphere of Mesta. The proximity to Turkey is reflected in the architecture and some customs, creating a fascinating cultural bridge!
